D e Luca's brand tells a story of passion, perseverance, desire to grow and achieve in a land at the same time sweet and bitter.
Everything comes in 94 'when a man, Abramo De Luca, lover of good wine and his "melissese" land, began making wine from the grapes of their estates, full of grape varieties including the "gaglioppo" and "White Greek." Screws earliest origins linked to the landing of the Greeks in areas of southern Italy around the VIII century b.C.; together with screws Abramo De Luca followed the historic winemaking traditions, linked to the ancient method of growing vines "to Sapling" technique practiced by the ancient population of Bruzi in the third century BC.
At the time of the Greeks, as now, the wines of this area were so appreciated to be awarded to the winners of the Olympic Games. Work undertaken by passion Abraham is currently led by Vincenzo De Luca, brilliant young man who, thanks to his strong entrepreneurial skills, is at the head of a prestigious project, aimed at the transformation of that inordinate passion family in an ambitious business plan, directed towards the creation of an outstanding product, landmark wine of our region and has always been perfect combination of flavors and culture of an ancient land.
The company is located in the Melissa's hills, in an area rich in history and tradition in the Celsi and San Cernina funds, in the renowned area of DOC Cirò and Melissa. It has a surface area of which 70% Gaglioppo, 15% of Greek white, and 15% varieties recommended by the Calabria region.
The particular structure of the Calabrian soil, drought and harsh, provides a microclimate particularly suitable for this type of vine, among other very resistant and characterized by a fairly early maturation. With its grapes has produced the D.O.C. wine: Ciro red and Melissa red, and its location between the sea and the mountains of Sila creates extreme differences between day and night. This means that the grapes ripen slowly, thus achieving full development of aromas and taste. It's a red grape, the wine made from it has a strong alcohol content (often exceeds 14 vol.) With a remarkable body. The color of the wine produced is an intense ruby red with intense vinous when the wine is young, which eventually evolve into a rich bouquet. These are characteristics that lend themselves very well for aging.
THE WHITE GREEK
Among the many Calabrian grapes, there is one delicate yellow, called Greek grape that gives rise to a white nectar. The plant located in Calabria best climatic conditions for its development, today it grows on a narrow strip of coast overlooking the Ionian Sea. From a noble and precious lives, greedy and stingy treatment of fruit from a plant you get just half a liter of nectar color more or less intense straw yellow tending to golden and amber hues, with a distinctive aroma of dried fruit and soft taste and harmonious, to be drunk young and still possibly within two years.
